DAY 5 and its still on....................

DAY 5

Sunday-June 24th- Gangtok

Rain and thunder storms in the past 24 hrs have in no way dampened the spirits of the Satyagrahis of ACT led by Dawa Lepcha and 20 yera old Tenzing Lepcha with the indefinite hunger strike entering the 5th Day.
3 new members, Phici Lepcha, Dubu Lepcha and Tsewang Ongden Lepcha, all from Dzongu have joined the hunger strike from today. Besides, Lamas present at the site have been preparing for NESOL PUJA for appeasing all the deities of Sikkim and to pray for protection and well being of all the Sikkimese people and especially Satyagrahis who are on an indefinite hunger strike.

The Government has eventually invited ACT for talks at Tashiling on Monday, the 25th of June i.e. tomorrow. However, with the Chief Minister being out of station, members of ACT are quite apprehensive on the outcome of such talks in his absense.

Yo buddy,
Your travel account of Dzongu sounds very much like that of Geoffry Gorer written in 1937. I hv just started the book and is unputdownable. Well your description makes me pack my bag and set out this very minute. However, I have plans to go there soon-god willing(Indian beaurecracy willing)- for a research project.Hope to inspire others like you hv. Keep the faith.
