When I saw the picture of the most beautiful disappearing river on your blog, I saw my childhood peeping out from behind the mist. Yes, our carefree, childhood days of trekking with a fine spray of mist on one's hair.
The alcove for migratory birds, the orchids dangling from the trees in every cardamom field, hidden waterfalls that beckoned one to a world of adventure.... these and much more are our heritage as people belonging to Sikkim. Will they remain tales to be told around the fireplace for our children and their children?
I applaud ACT for their act. Yes, Dawa, Tenzing, and every person who have stood up for this cause, you have made us very proud of you.I would like to challenge all the people of Sikkim, India and the world to fight for this cause because the ill effects of climate change cannot be reined in by the latest gadgets nor by the best army. The issues of global warming respects no border and I think as citizens of this world, each one of us should do what one can to preserve what is left of nature.

DAY 14................................
DAY 14Its now 14 days that the indefinite hunger srike by Satyagrahis of ACT led by Dawa Lepcha and Tenzing Lepcha began. While Dawa is continuing his hunger strike at BL House, Tenzing is still at STNM Hospital.
Among the two other satyagrahis admitted in STNM Hospital along with Tenzing Lepcha, Chimi Lepcha has called off his strike for the moment owing to bad health. Samten Lepcha still continues his hunger strike there.
As the previous days, support from sympathisers and well wishers have been pouring.
3 new members from Rakdong Village in East Sikkim have joined the ACT Members in their indefinite hunger strike. They are Sancha Bir Limboo, Khem Lal Gautam and Ratna Bahadur Gautam. They have joined the protest in support of ACT in protest of the natural water sources having dried up around Rakdong which has now permeated their agricultural lands. Rakdong is in the close vicinity of Teesta Stage V Project which is by far, the largest ever taken up by NHPC in its history of making dams all over India.
