Day 76

In a show of solidarity and to protest against the upcoming hydroeletric projects at Dzongu in North Sikkim, the youth wing of Darjeeling Lepcha Association have started an indefinite huger-strike at Chowkbazaar, Darjeeling. The said Association has stated that the hunger-strike shall continue till a positive assurance is given by the Chief Minister of Sikkim. Representatives from Darjeeling youth Lepcha association Mr. Nima Lepcha, Prem T Lepcha, Norden Lepcha and Samden Foning Lepcha are participating in indefinite hunger strike at Chowkbazaar.

Kalimpong Lepcha association also has been on indefinite hunger-strike for the same cause.
The Chief Minister, Mr Pawan Chamling is back from New Delhi and ACT is hopeful of initiation of dialogue with the Government of Sikkim. The withdrawl of the indefinite hungerstrike by Dawa and Tenzing has created a congenial atmosphere as demanded by the Government of Sikkim and ACT and all its well wishers are hopeful of being intimated of such an initiation of dialogue.
